Niels Stomps - Mist
Niels Stomps is an alumni from the HKU in Utrecht. In this project he dives into old rural towns and villages that have been replaced by several brand-new cities. The new surroundings don’t remind you of the past. The Three Gorges Dam is built in central China. He has been working on this project for the passt 20 years.
This project is amazing in my eyes. Working on something for so long, speaking to people and hearing their experiences must be a tough job. Niels is amazing at capturing a feeling that I can’t really describe. It’s a feeling of missing something that was never there in the first place for me. I never saw the old towns and villages but I can feel that they are missing.
